Over the last seven years, Ruff Stuff Music LTD has been an outlet for classic-sounding underground Deep House, Garage and Techno. Previous releases have predominately been from the Italian born, Berlin based, DJ and producer Ruff Stuff himself. Here for the seventh release, it’s more of a collaborative affair with four tracks from four separate artists; Flaze, Bress Underground, Toysin and Ruff Stuff.
Up first is ex Ruff Stuff production partner, Flaze with “Resolve”. Heavy swing led percussion, classic feeling stabs and a reparative vocal is driven by a badass bassline to give the perfect ingredients for a peak time monster. The A2 track is called “I Bet You’re Wond’rin” by Bress Underground. It gives off an old school Garage vibe with a lush piano and skippy beats. Over on the flip, label boss Ruff Stuff delivers a modern Deep House masterclass using vintage elements with his track, “Gut Feel”. Melodic elements build nicely before an acid line is introduced to great effect. Toysin offers the final track with “You Don’t Pass the Exam”, a cool deeper funky number to conclude the release.
