BBW003 - Flaze "Pleasure EP" inc remixes by Ruff Stuff & Craig Hamilton

Hot on the heels of release number two, Bare Bones Wax returns with their next issue on the vinyl only imprint. Flaze’s track “Forty” made quite an impact with a lot of DJ’s earlier this year released on the VA, BBW001. This time he has a full EP titled “Pleasure” with two original tracks and two remixes on offer coming from Ruff Stuff and Craig Hamilton respectively.

Up first on the A1 is the title track “Pleasure” (video above) which has a deep warm feel and kicking groove in Flaze’s unique style making it a true future deep house classic. Berlin based Ruff Stuff delivers a wonderful analogue and energetic remix of “Pleasure” on the A2 showing why he is a master of his trade. Over on the flip, the second original track is called “Back Again”. Uplifting pads and vocals with Flaze’s trademark tough beats and percussion ensure this is a pure dancefloor destroyer. Finishing off the package on B2 is a remix that comes courtesy of Craig Hamilton. Craig takes the elements of the original and turns it into an end of night anthem.

A1 Flaze "Pleasure"

Italian born dj/producer, FLAZE grew up in the South of Italy where he was exposed to a variety of underground beats from an early age. The electronic sound – specifically techno – were his beats of choice from the early ‘90s; paving the way for his future career and artistic growth. His live début at the decks came in 1995; he started out DJ’ing at parties and subsequently he joined the Studio One Radio team participating in their popular house night.

In 2013 he joined forces with his old hometown friend Nanni, creating Ruff Stuff and the connected label Ruff Stuff Music Ltd, with the intent of spinning a more raw and groovy sound. As Ruff Stuff he has released tunes on different labels, such as Shabby Doll Records, Silence in Metropolis, Rough Recordings, Rarehouse Records, King Street Sounds, RM Records UK, Cahoots Records, Quality Vibe Records, and more, gaining support from Marco Carola, Laurent Garnier, T. Williams, B. Traits, Marco Faraone, Javi Bora, Roger Sanchez, Ben Sims, Black Loops, Cinthie and more…

Flaze is now pursuing a solo career. In 2021 he released “Brigade EP” under Entrepôt Records, which marks his debut effort as a solo artist.

A2 Flaze "Pleasure" (Ruff Stuff Remix)

The Italian born, Berlin based, DJ and producer Ruff Stuff has rocked up on a host on different labels, including Shall Not Fade, Madhouse Records, Suol, Sloth Boogie and STEP Recordings. However, it’s the work on his own label, the aptly names Ruff Stuff Music Ltd, for which he’s arguably best renowned.

Grew up during the ‘90’s electronic wave, firstly as clubber and then as DJ and vinyl enthusiast, in the mid-2000s he decided to start  produce electronic music. The first steps were moved on the Idm and Ambient territories, driven by his love for ethereal melodies and intricate broken beats. The shift to House happened after re-discovering different classic records hidden in his collection. From here the idea to create a music project focused on representing the vibes of the old-school House, Techno and Garage with a propensity to find the newest, freshest sounds.

Rough samples, hypnotic melodies, groovy beats and vocals are the main ingredients that marks the Ruff Stuff’s sound.
