Street Choice – Hang Up EP
The latest release on UC Beatz’s excellent Entrepôt Records is from Russian duo, Street Choice. I don’t know a great deal about the artists, other than the fact they hail from the beautiful city of St Petersburg, and make damn fine House Music! They deliver four quality tracks with sophisticated grooves, funk infused with jazz and soul, putting the emphasis firmly on music for grownups.
Up first is title track “Hang Up”. Already gaining support from the likes of Jimpster, this track sets the tone for the EP with tough drums and a funky riffs. “Give It” takes things slightly more upbeat. Brass instruments sit nicely above the funky bass making you think of summer days gone by. Over on the flip “Memories” takes it slightly deeper with lovely keys and real Jazz feel, akin to the classic US Deep House sounds or recent years. “Heron” is the absolute monster that finishes off the EP with elastic bass and repetitive stabs giving a Nu Disco House vibe.
