Jade Cox – Make That Move EP

As we finally have some good weather and lockdown starts to become a thing of the past, the festival season is upon us once again. Day parties with good vibes are becoming plentiful, and hotspots like Croatia and Ibiza are slowly opening their borders much to the delight of glassy eyed revellers. It is around this time of year that DJ’s look for that hidden gem that epitomises and fuels the feel-good feeling and to offer some hands in the air action.  This could just be that record!

After a couple of releases on respected labels such as Robsoul and 89:Ghost, Jade Cox launches her own “Social Avenue” imprint with an EP called “Make That Move”. The title track is a feel-good loopy disco affair that builds nicely with an uplifting vocal. “Fell In Love with Dancing” is a bassline driven track akin to filter house of yesteryear while “Special” is a straight up jacker with looped up funk and skippy beats.  The package is finished off with a lovely remix of “Make That Move” from the Parisian master of the MPC and Robsoul owner, Phil Weeks. Phil beefs up the original with a live MPC arrangement and stuttering vocals, while keeping most of the original elements.  A great first release for the label and splendid artwork too.  I’m already looking forward to hear what they have planned next.
