L’Aroye – Potion For Love EP
There are some labels that become a staple in your collection and then some that you just buy on sight, as the quality control is always on point. One such label is Swedish imprint, Local Talk. Now with well over one hundred releases they still release regular gems that bridge the gap between old school and new school deep house music.
This three track EP from French multi-instrumentalist L’Aroye is perfect for warm summer evenings. The title track “Potion For Love (Never Give Up)” is a deep, low slung jazzy affair with a lush vocal and twinkled xylophones. It’s the type of track that could easily fit into a set from Moodymann or MCDE and definitely gives more than a nod to the sounds from the motor city. On the flip “Keep On” has more of an up-tempo feel with added live bongos and skippy beats. The final track is a “Potion For Love (LA Spacefunk Dub)” which has excellent synths interlaced with keyboard solos and more live percussion. This is an Outstanding release!
